The sun lifted its head up over the horizon and enveloped the sleeping green-blue fjord in its golden rays.
The water eagerly beamed back. The trees shook off the night’s darkness and breathed in the morning.
The black steel cliff turned silver. Raven Zeer, perched atop the cliff, opens his eyes.
As always, his dreams and recollections had taken him far away. But this was not the time for sleep.
Right in the core of his slumber, in the sacred depth of his oracle soul, he heard a voice. His own voice, quiet and unyielding.
Zeer was given the command to fly to the island of Ultima Thule and to await the day of blooming,
and on that day to pick the crimson heather flower, to extract from it a drop of sacred honey,
and to drop the honey into the water from his cliff. The single drop of this intoxicating heather honey
can stop the battle between water and fire that is about to begin on this earth.
Zeer knows how difficult it is to carry out the task ordered by his inner voice,
for Ultima Thule is the land of temptations. There, it seems the world had just been created,
and an unconquerable pull will keep you from moving from your spot where as your soul is stolen away
by the heavenly beauty and harmony of the place. You simply freeze and stare.
Zeer also knows that God Loki, an infamous joker, will do everything to keep anyone from getting the heather.
But Zeer takes off, for no one else can reach Ultima Thule. In the blink of an eye, he passes over the mountains and the sea.
The colors of summer bloom all around. The water is crystal clear and calm. The blue depth, the green expanses, the shining horizon all open wide for him.
Here is Ultima Thule! Purple, pink, green hills and valleys; diamond-like waterfalls cascading off mountains; dancing flames of volcanoes.
Each of these views is a gift to the eye; each threatens to freeze you into staring, for such pristine beauty is a terrible force.
The day of blooming will soon come and the heather flowers will be everywhere.
But how can one find the crimson heather? God Loki has colored all the heather fiery, flaming red. And he commanded the volcanoes to cover themselves with flower-shaped red fire.
How can this be solved? But Loki does not know that Zeer carries an all-seeing rune stolen from Valhalla.
If it is held next to things that have been transformed using magic, the magic melts away. Zeer clutches the rune in his beak,
and with the speed of lightning he soars from one bed of flowers to the next, searching for his flower with his sharp gaze.
Meanwhile, the day of blooming has come.
Zeer finally finds the right crimson flower blooming beside a thick waterfall.
But as soon as he reaches for the flower with his beak, the earth opens up and lets out a towering wall of fire.
Loki wants to stop Zeer. Suddenly, the raven oracle throws the all-seeing rune into the waterfall, and the water directs itself towards the fire.
The water breaks through the fire. Ultima Thule is ignited in fierce battle.
The purple hills and valleys turn into amethyst hues, the pink ones become crimson, the green ones turn turquoise.
Zeer and Loki transform into two wizards and fight with two-handed swords – one of water and one of fire.
Suddenly, the heather begins to grow, and Zeer manages to cut it off with his water blade.
A drop of honey falls from the stem into Loki’s flame, and the flame disappears.
Zeer mutters a spell, and the water gives back his magic rune. Zeer takes the heather into his beak and flies home so quickly that the land
and sea mix together beneath him into a blue-green haze. He only has an hour left.
He has to make it back in time to drop the crimson heather near his cliff. Darkness must not overtake the world.
